We
had in the past celebrated events with a display of lead soldiers
in the window as seen in 1952 for the Queen's Coronation, and her
Jubilee in 1977 but due to the heavy cost of insuring the display
the collection has now been sold, for to put them in the window today
would be inviting trouble.

Paul and I continue to run the business. We have both been in the
Business over 28 years and now run the shop with 5 part time staff.
Mrs Doreen Moore, our longest serving member of staff, has just
retired after 26 years. Only she knows how she put up with us for
so long!

We
like to pride ourselves with looking after our customers with knowledge
and good manners and taking the time to stand and listen. To the
Irish lady who insisted on Terminal underwear for her husband when
she meant Thermal and we really knew things were getting bad when
a lady insisted we cut a new handkerchief in half as she had two
nephews. The customer is of course always right.
Two
years ago we celebrated 75years in Aldershot, and we have not stopped
signing autographs since our appearances on Meridian and collector's
Lot!

The small shop must look to its most basic and inherent characteristic
that of personal service. We can visit the elderly, who can't get
into Town, and we can deliver goods the same day if it's local .We
liase with schools and if we have not got it, we can usually get it.
I have a son Jonathan and a daughter Katherine . Jonathan is the last
of the line at the moment to bear the surname Jerome and it would
be nice to see the shop pass to a fourth generation but who knows
what lies in store for towns in the future.
